The biennial foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) blooming in the coastal mountains of Central Oregon. This plant was introduced to the Pacific Northwest from Europe and is naturalized in much of the area. Famous for its cardiac glycosides, it is an important medicinal plant and used in the heart medicine digitalis or digitonan. Unrefined, the entire foxglove plant is highly toxic and may be fatal if ingested.
